Morning Rituals to Start Your Day

“A daily ritual is a way of saying, I am voting for myself, I am taking care of myself.“~ Mariel Hemingway

My daily rituals are far from perfect, but they help start a day on a positive note. Self-love and self-care are my focus. I feel energized and uplifted to dedicate time to myself. After many years of trying different routines to build daily habits, I am slowly finding what works.

“Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning, and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life.” — Yoko Ono.

All of us have some morning rituals. It is all about intention during the practice itself. If you want to start, create or add a new one, here are

My Morning Practices:

Positive affirmations are a big part of my life. I enjoy saying them in the mirror every morning and throughout the day.

Drinking water first thing every morning. I prepare a glass of water the night before and leave it by the bed. You can write a positive affirmation or words of love on the glass to charge the water.

Digital detox. I stay entirely digital-free for the first 30-60 minutes. I say “No” to email, texting, social media, news, etc. Instead, I choose to spend more time reading physical books, meditating, dream writing, journaling, movement, loving, and having breakfast. I am slowly working towards evening detox. One day at a time, right?

Brain dump (journaling) to help me release blockages, clear my mind of racing thoughts, and activate creative flow. It can be used as a to-do list to write all possible ideas flying in your mind. For example, if I feel frustrated or angry about something, I write my thoughts until I feel a sense of relief. Even 2-3 minutes can make a big difference. You can use this concept of brain dump the way you want. The idea is to declutter your mind and reduce stress. Getting everything off your chest and writing what comes to mind will hopefully make you feel relieved. It does for me.

Prayer/meditation. I like to sit in silence to center, ground myself, and connect to my Divine team.

Pulling an oracle card as guidance for the day. It helps me to stay focused.

Journaling, automatic writing, or intuitive interpretation of received messages mentioned above. I like to set intentions for the day and plan in a physical planner. All you need is 5 minutes.

Dancing, doing yoga, aerobics, stretching, or “nada” – still need improvement in this department because I’ve done them on and off.

Gratitude journal. I have been writing for over five years now and love it. It also works as a dairy.

I highly recommend starting small, taking baby steps, practicing it for a while, seeing if it works for you before it becomes your daily routine, and then expanding at your own pace.

I hope you love showing up for yourself and devoting time to balance your mind, body, and soul as much as I do.

Feel free to comment below and share your daily practices. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
