Heroine’s Journey: You are the One You’ve Been Waiting for
Life doesn’t happen to us; it happens FOR us. My perspective shifted when I heard this and let it sink in.
Why do we sometimes think we are not whole or enough? Why do we lose faith in ourselves and our inner power? We seek validation outside of ourselves. Recognition, acceptance, appreciation. You name it.
Do you hope someone will come into your life and rescue you? To show you the way, take your burdens away, or make you feel whole and complete?
I’ve been there and done that.
From a young age, I expected someone special to enter my life and make me happy. I wanted someone to love me and see my innocent soul and tender heart. I desired to share my world of wonder with someone and experience it together.
I waited for what seemed like forever and lost myself in every relationship entering my life. I expected my partners (who hadn’t figured out their lives yet) to guide me and tell me how to live.
My search for belonging comes from being abandoned and struggling to find my place in the orphanage’s crowd. Growing up among other kids seeking love and attention wasn’t easy.
Are you running away from your problems and hoping you can be happy somewhere out there? I did that, too, dreaming of being elsewhere, but I realized I could not escape FROM myself.
It took me decades to find out I’ve been waiting for myself to wake up, look inside of myself instead of outside, take responsibility, stop blaming, and start taking action.
“Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.” ~ Bradley Whitford
Even nowadays, during meltdowns, I dream of getting a mentor to guide me. But I remember to pull myself back together, overcome difficulties, face challenges, and move forward despite anything. I am my OWN mentor. I recognize all the answers are within me.
Yes, sometimes we need help and support from others, especially when we stumble on our paths. Asking for help is a sign of strength.
What is your story?
Are you ready to stand up for yourself and acknowledge your strength?
Beautiful soul, you are a heroine/hero on your journey! You are the creator of your life! So, what stops you from standing up for your needs and desires?
Everything you seek is inside of you. Stop waiting. Speak your truth, show up, and make your voice heard.
Your story is important. Don’t compare it with others. It is YOUR journey that has shaped you, brought you where you are now, and made you unique.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ~ Barack Obama
You are the architect of your life, so choose an empowering meaning for it.
Well said my friend! Bravo from fellow hero! Xoxo
