Releasing and Letting Go with Full Moon Ritual

Nov 8, 2022 | Inner Healing, Rituals | 0 comments

Autumn is the most common time for letting go, like trees dropping their leaves. Nature teaches and reminds us how to do so. The full moon especially invites us to do a releasing ritual every month.

“Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. It allows others to be responsible for themselves and for us to take our hands off situations that do not belong to us. This frees us from unnecessary stress.” ~ Melody Beattie

When we focus on getting rid of the old, we open a space for new and uplifting.

  • What are you willing to release, my dear?
  • What doesn’t serve you any longer or has no purpose?
  • Are you ready to release doubts, worries, resentment, stress, limiting beliefs, attachment to outcomes, judgment, fear, shame, comparison, and other things that no longer serve you?

Let’s look at a simple releasing ritual.

Create a sacred space

Light a candle or incense, hold a favorite crystal to your heart or in your hand, and play the music that soothes your soul.

Grab your journal and dive into these questions to reflect. Journaling can help you get some clarity:

  1. What areas of your life do you need to release, heal, and forgive?
  2. What limiting beliefs hold you back? Are you ready to set them free?
  3. What relationships or jobs are no longer in alignment with your life purpose?
  4. What emotions need to be healed or forgiven?
Journaling can help you get some clarity

Life is harder if we hold on to what doesn’t serve us. Fear prevents us from moving forward. Resentment prevents us from learning from relationships. And negative emotions foster other negative feelings. These weigh us down by adding to life’s stress and dissatisfaction.

“It takes a lot more courage to let something go than it does to hang on to it, trying to make it better. Letting go doesn’t mean ignoring a situation. Letting go means accepting what is, exactly as it is, without fear, resistance, or a struggle for control.” ~ Iyanla Vanzant

If we don’t release and let go, old patterns repeat themselves. We can be stuck in this cycle.

        A simple releasing ritual

It’s all about the intention of letting go. After writing answers to the above questions with what you want to release, burn the paper safely over a toilet seat. You can also use a fireproof bowl or a fireplace outside.

Declare, “I now release… (read what you wrote) And so it is!”

With these words, let it all go and open your heart to receive love, light, clarity, freedom, peace, inspiration, and joy. Celebrate!

        Be gentle with yourself.

Drink lots of water during this process. Honor and accept what you’re going through. You are stronger than you think. I believe in you.

I suggest devoting time and energy to yourself to move forward and step into your authenticity. I believe in letting go and releasing monthly, especially during the full moon. We can heal and grow with this practice.

“In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.” ~ Deepak Chopra
